Testing tracking with D700

Just covered ALTA semifinals match this morning.  It's my first time ever doing a sports event, and actually, it's quite fun to push my camera and skills with high shutter speed, high continuous fire, and autofocus tracking.  Had a pretty high focus success rate, but I need to work on my composition and timing better.  My setup for the match:  Aperture Priority set to wide open to give some isolation, ISO set about 500 to give fast shutter speed, VR is OFF on the lens, AF-C, 51-point 3D AF tracking, no focus lock, high continuous shutter release, activate AF with AF-ON only.  Despite shooting outside the wired fence, notice it barely is in the frame above.  And thanks Steve for telling me you can shoot behind it.  The technique?  Use long focal length and long focus distance.  No wonder scratches on a telephoto lens are not that important, since a big wire like this has no effect, what would a small little scratch really do? Anyways, this is one sharp lens, but I wouldn't mind more isolation...  Back to the image, I processed it to show more power and speed.

And oh, congrats to my friends on advancing to the finals!
