Grand Canyon

Wow, I haven't updated this blog for awhile, been so busy with my new job.  I hope these few photos will keep traffic coming :).  I'll try to keep it up...  Grand Canyon, is it really grand?  It's hard to tell when you don't have a point of reference to use as a scale.  The last photo, you can see I used the tourists looking out as a known reference.  Still, I failed to capture the grandness of it all because there is a discontinuity between the foreground versus the background.  However, notice the haze, this alone can convey distance to a viewer.  From where I'm standing to the other side of the rim (edge of horizon) is approximately 10-18 miles away.  The perimeter of the rim is about 277 miles.  Did I succeed in portraying that to the viewer?  You be the judge.
